Ways Of Succulent Propagation In Water

Many people may have tried to use cuttings to cultivate new succulents, but they all ended in failure. In fact, the effect of growing new succulents in water is much better than cuttings. This is also recommended by many growers who grow succulents. Most succulents can be reproduced in water. If you are breeding succulents for the first time, then this is a good choice. Here are the ways of succulent propagation in water.

Can you propagate succulents in water?

Normally, the success of the reproduction of succulents depends on the type of succulents you are trying to root. If you want to try this method to reproduce, then you can follow the steps I gave to try:

Let the cut ends of the succulents become dry

Generally, this process takes several days or even a week to keep the leaves of succulents dry and prevent the cut from absorbing too much water. In other words, when you plan to let succulent leaf propagation in water, it is best to stop watering the plants.

Use distilled water or rainwater

If you only want tap water to propagate plants, it is best to let the water stand for 48 hours to allow the salt and chemicals to evaporate. Fluoride is actually very harmful to the young branches, they will shuttle in the water to make the leaves brown. Therefore, it is best to use distilled water or rainwater to reproduce, so that many problems will not occur.

Keep the water level below the stem of the plant

When you are ready to root the callused cut, let it levitate above the water. Wait patiently for a few weeks until the root system grows.

Place under a succulent grow light or bright light

Propagating new succulents needs to avoid direct sunlight. At this time, the use of succulents grow lights is the most helpful for its rooting and sprouting. If you don't want to spend so much money to buy a grow light, you can also place it in a place that can absorb sunlight.
