Principle of luminescence

The terminal voltage of the PN junction constitutes a certain potential barrier. When a forward bias voltage is applied, the potential barrier drops, and the majority carriers in the P and N regions diffuse to each other.
Since the mobility of electrons is much greater than that of holes, a large number of electrons will diffuse to the P region, which constitutes the injection of minority carriers in the P region. These electrons recombine with the holes in the valence band, and the energy obtained during the recombination is released in the form of light energy. This is the principle of PN junction light emission.

Development path

The LED T8 tube has two main stages, which represent the development of LED lamps through two small paths: one is to use in-line LED lamps, and the other is to use high-performance SMD LED lamp beads. And the production process and heat dissipation are different, the SMD type is much better than the in-line type.


There are several classifications of LED T8 tubes, which are generally divided into lengths, such as 0.6 meters, 0.9 meters, 1.2 meters, 1.5 meters, etc. The power will be different for different lengths. The longer the length, the more lamp beads will be used and the higher the power will be. There are also divided according to the shape of the tube, such as round tube and oval tube. But classification by length has become the industry standard.

T represents the diameter of the tube. Each "T" is 1/8 inch.

Models below T4 cannot replace the brightness of T8, and cannot be commercialized yet and cannot be widely used.

The disadvantage of LED fluorescent lamps is the high price, but although the price of LED fluorescent tubes is about ten times that of fluorescent lamps, it is still cost-effective if it is related to its life span, power saving and pollution-free. Because if compared with a fluorescent lamp with a lifespan of 5,000 hours, an LED fluorescent lamp with a lifespan of 50,000 hours is already worth buying 10 times the price, and the energy saved in the meantime is a pure benefit.
